The Adoption Process
Thinking of adding a new family member? Our adoption process is designed to place our dogs with loving homes ensuring you and your new pet are a good fit! No need to have a particular dog in mind when starting the process - we are excited to pre-approve you following the steps below so when the right fit comes along - you'll be ready!
Step 1
Complete an adoption application by clicking the button below. If you are interested in applying for a specific dog on the website, please be sure to list their name. Please note that submitting an application is the first step in our process and does not guarantee adoption of a particular dog.
Step 2
You will be contacted via email or phone by a Volunteer within 10-14 business days of submitting your application.
Step 3
The Volunteer will also conduct all required checks, including reference calls, a vet check to ensure your pets are up to date on medical needs, a landlord check if you rent, and a home visit - during which a Volunteer will meet with all residents of your home to ensure that everyone is on board to adopt.
Step 4
Following steps 1-3, you will be pre-approved to adopt. You can view the list of current animals online or attend one of our Upcoming Events to meet our dogs.
Step 5
Once you find a dog you are interested in, please message the Facebook page or send an email to awesomepawsrescue@gmail.com. Please include your name (as it is on your application), phone number, and which dog you are interested in. A Volunteer will then send your information to that dog's foster parent and they will reach out to you to schedule a meet and greet.
Step 6
At the time of adoption, the application fee is required. Along with a leash, collar, and dog tag.
